"I'm the one who picked "Dig Down Deep" to play for Spirit's 47th day on Mars. I was not a fan of Hot Soup before that, but I am now! I stumbled across it while searching on the iTunes Music Store for something to play. I listened to the snippet, and instantly knew that I had found my song for the day.
"Sue, Christina, and Jennifer: thank you for such a sublime song!" The voices, harmony, and rhythm were simply captivating with this soul-penetrating crystalline clarity, and the lyrics were so appropriate, it was freaky. We were going to do our first digging operation with the Spirit rover (making a trench with the wheels) to look under the surface for possible evidence of liquid water having been there at one time. We had to dig to try to answer the question. "There's clear water running through me", "ain't got no answers, got a whole lotta questions", "nothing on the surface seems to satisfy me". The lyrics were right on. "So you know, the purpose of the Mars Exploration Rovers, their reason for existence, is to determine whether Mars may have once had an environment suitable for life. The key ingredient is water. In particular, liquid water with the appropriate mix of organic chemicals and energy. Essentially, we're looking for hot soup. -- Mark Adler, Mars Exploration Rover Spirit Mission Manager "I really, really like your newest recording!
Great song selection and performance all around.
I will be playing more in the weeks to come."
"I came home to find Soup Happens all over our bed and Robyn
laughing her head off over the Tom Paxton parody.
Expect to see that track on our next playlist.
Thank you for brightening up what was just another Monday."
"I love the CD . . . been talking it
up . . . I love 'Moonglow' and
'Dance Around in Your Bones.' I'd love to have [Hot Soup] on the
show."
"I played four cuts from your new album on WMUH today!
Especially loved the Paxton parody with Paxton!"
"I'm really enjoying Soup Happens --
thanks for sending it. Keep up the great work!!!"

"Thanks for sending a copy of Soup Happens -- it sounds great!
We will definitely be able to give it some airplay on
Acoustic Cafe."
I just heard your version of "Last Thing on My Mind" today on
KBCS and I've gotta have it!"
"Hot Soup is up to your usual great blend, just love it."
"Thanks for sending your first disc, too. Another hot batch.
Love it! One of these days I'll flip on Jay Leno and see all
you girls there. Keep up the wonderful musical comestibles!"
"I've been playing Soup Happens (and your first album as
well) quite a bit. . . . I love the album and have
probably played just about every song on it on one show or
another. . . . I've even used the oven mitt
once or twice :)"
"Sounds like you folks have a lot of fun making your
music . . . a fine bunch of songs, all well
arranged and produced, featuring some beautiful
harmonies . . . and outstanding guest appearances,
while Sue Trainor's album compiles some of the cleverest
parodies I've heard in ages. I'll be happy to include tracks
from both albums in my playlist."
"The three of you sing the best trio female harmonies I've
heard since The Roches!"
"You should be very proud. It is a masterpiece."
"Soup Happens is really, really good. It deserves to
reach a wide audience and here's hoping it does. All the best."
