This forum is an evolving "field guide" to marketing folk music. We ask: What more can we do individually and coöperatively to attract and retain new audience? |

One of the workshops at the 2001 Folk Alliance Conference began a conversation about coöperative marketing between venues, radio, labels, and artists. This is a concept that Hot Soup has been and continues to be committed to -- we choose to look to "the bigger picture" for the benefit of us all. We're putting our convictions and our expertise at your service. Once a month we'll send out a brief "Marketing Folk" email containing a general marketing idea with suggested applications for promoting folk and acoustic music performances. We hope these emails will tickle your own creative marketing brainstorms. We've created this forum so there's a place you can go to discuss and brainstorm these topics if you choose -- you might offer examples, suggest other strategies or other applications, or explore potential coöperative marketing activities. The monthly topics will remain available for easy reference. |
