Ann Mayo Muir's Recordings

Ann Mayo Muir has recently released two albums that include vocal accompaniment by her daughter, Christina Muir, and Sue Trainor. We offer these CDs to Hot Soup fans, knowing they'll enjoy Ann's music also.

  • So Goes My Heart  -- A considerable range of songs, both traditional and contemporary, showing Ann's broad range of compassion and wonder.

  • The Music of Ann Mayo Muir  -- Previously-recorded songs with the Bok, Trickett, and Muir trio, and one with the Hot Soup trio, all with Ann singing solo or as the lead voice.

For more of Ann's recordings with Gordon Bok and Ed Trickett, visit the Folk Legacy website, or email info@gordonbok.com.

It wasn't Ann's idea to make this recording; you can thank her friends for that. For years, this extraordinary woman has been the Lark in the Morning to us, a song waiting to happen. She has sung in hundreds of concerts and her voice and instruments have graced many other people's albums; now it's time you heard her do it her own way.

She's joined here by her daughter Christina, herself a professional musician and a wise and lovely person, by master musician and harmony-smith Ed Trickett, and by Gordon Bok, whose cellamba playing Ann has bravely encouraged for many years.

Since Ann has been living in France, her concert tours in the United States have been limited to a few weeks in the autumn and in the spring. As a result, too few audiences have had the opportunity to hear her remarkable music. With this compact disc, we hope to remedy that unfortunate state of affairs. Here we present a varied selection of songs from her many recordings with Gordon Bok and Ed Trickett, plus one from a new album of her daughter's trio, Hot Soup, on which Ann sings lead. From the dramatic to the whimsical, here is a delightful compilation of "The Music of Ann Mayo Muir
